In a spot of bother? Learn to read your skin and fight blemishes and pigmentation…effectively

Problems with pigmentation? Worried about blemishes? Prone to facial redness? You are not alone. Hormones, stress, diet, dehydration, the environment, the wrong skincare and of course a change in the season can all cause havoc with our skin. Many alternative practitioners even believe that blemishes in particular areas of the skin can actually reflect different problems in your internal health!

But before you panic, potentially buy the wrong products or even get your dirty paws all over said problem, check out our easy-to-understand face map, read our tips, and treat your skin to cooling, calming, results-driven skincare the kind way!

Understanding your skin - FACE MAPPING

1. Breakouts on your forehead – DIGESTIVE SYSTEM

Blemishes in this area can be a sign of improper diet, food intolerances and a lack of water so make sure you think about what you are consuming, try to avoid processed foods and drink plenty of water.

2. Breakouts around your brow line – ADRENAL STRESS/CLEANLINESS

If you are prone to spots in and around your eyebrows it can be a sign of improper or lack of removal of makeup which leads to a build-up of dead skin cells which equals blemishes.

Exfoliation is in order! While regular skin cleansing is clearly beneficial, gentle exfoliating will help rejuvenate your skin and fight blemishes and pigmentation bringing new life to your complexion!

Remember if your skin is too dry, it will actually produce more oil which in turn can lead to more pesky pimples. Using a gentle cleanser will remove surface oils and makeup without stripping and disrupting your natural pH. Try: Gentle Exfoliating Cleanser

However if skin is super sensitive you are best to opt for an enzyme exfoliant which does not contain beads.

Try: Enzymo Spherides Peeling Cream

3. Breakouts between your brows – LIVER

If you have spots in between your eyebrows it can be linked to issues with your liver. Try to cut down on your dairy intake, reduce alcohol if you’ve been drinking more than usual and try not to eat rich or greasy foods. As before make sure you are drinking plenty of water. Very important!

4. Breakouts around your eye area – KIDNEYS

Blemishes, pigmentation, dark circles all point to dehydration! Increase fluids (not soft drinks, coffee and alcohol!) and treat your delicate eye area to skin nurturing ingredients and a moisture burst. Try “C” Evolutive Eye Gel, it will reduce dark circles and puffiness, revealing alluring eyes with a visibly refreshed and rejuvenated eye contour.

5. Breakouts on your cheeks – LUNGS

This can be linked to the respiratory system. Think pollution. Or do you smoke? Have you been suffering from a bad cold? Get some fresh air, up your intake of vitamin C, eat more fresh veggies and fruit and cut down on alchohol, caffeine, sugar and dairy.

Skin can also appear lack-luster so treat it to a surge of vitamin c too! Try “C” Complexe, it will boost your skin’s radiance, drench it with repairing antioxidants and render it brighter and smoother.

6. Breakouts on your nose – HEART

Any blemishes on your nose can indicate high blood pressure and Vitamin B deficiency.

Replace bad fats with good fats such as nuts, avocados, fish and flax seed. Make sure you are taking multi-vitamin supplements and try to avoid rich and spicy foods!

7/8. Breakouts in and around your chin – HORMONES/STOMACH

Getting pimples in this area can be linked to your stomach (spots on the central part of your chin) as well as the more obvious hormonal changes (outer area of the chin) which can be more apparent during certain stages of a woman’s cycle. Focus on your diet, eat well upping your intake of leafy veggies and fibre. Try to get plenty of rest (not always easy!) and as before drink plenty of water. Also ensure you keep skin clean, clean, clean! Try one of our Organic Essential Line Cleansers (for dry, sensitive, combination or oily skin.)

9. Breakouts on your neck – ILLNESS

Breakouts in this area can be linked to your body fighting bacteria to avoid illness. What you need now is rest and recuperation!

It’s important to look after yourself and your skin. What you consume is just as important as what you put on your skin! And remember to always use a moisturiser! First sight of a pesky pimple and so many of us will hold off on applying a moisturiser thinking it’s feeding the area with too much moisture resulting in pimples! Yet the more you deprive your skin of moisture the more it will produce, making breakouts become all the more common. We have a huge range of moisturisers to suit every skin type, so work out what’s best for your skin and treat it with some Pevonia loving! Try http://www.pevonia.com.au/Creams-and-Moisturizers.html
